Apologies for the delay in this post! I have been in ENGLAND and also sassing around Toronto with my friend visiting. SO I have combined two weeks of pictures…forgive me. Life happens!
At the very beginning of the week, I was getting excited and prepared to visit home. Because of this, fully aware of the amount of money I would spend sassiness around London and Cambridge town with my friends, I had a very chilled start to the week.
On my way home from work I spotted this nice piece of street art and even just about had long enough to oggle it before it started hailing. Really hailing.
Okay so this picture is actually from Wednesday morning but is of something that deeply stressed me out all of Tuesday; snow. I was totally chilled out about flying on Wednesday until some at work said, “ooh… How are you feeling about the snow?!” and I proceeded to check the weather forecast. There was 25 centimetres of snow forecast overnight which meant one thing; cancellations. The airline were even trying to encourage me to fly that night, but I played it safe and just about stuck to my guns.
To England! After working at the studio in the morning, I got an Uber to YYZ for a red eye flight to London
Hello motherland! There you are!
Despite having not slept since Tuesday night, save a snatched hour on the plane, I went straight to Kate’s then straight out to meet my honeys, the #LDNtheatrebloggers and equal honeys, the lads from Dewynters. There was a quiz (my team won) and karaoke as well as literally all the wine!!!!!
It all ended in a casino…one that would let me in anyway! I’ve put the picture under Friday as it VERY MUCH was. Hey there 4am.
To the shire! I saw my mum for the first time since September, but before that I somehow needed to shake off my hangover on the train. It’s amazing what some alka seltzer and some make-up can do!
It was so nice to see her and the beautiful Mr. Bracken (the black lab!)
After a morning chilling with Bracken and stocking up on chocolate and beer to take back to Canada, I went to Ruth’s house, where we ate ALL the cheese. ALL of it!
As if we needed more food, we later headed out into Cambridge for Thai and cocktails.
Babies, babies EVERYWHERE!
Sunday we had a party for my beautiful niece, Isobel. She is one! Can you believe it! She is a teeny tiny person these days!
The party was lovely, my family were there as well as 12 or so babies!
Later I compensated for all the baby talk with dinner with my glorious friend Enma, where we enjoyed a delicious Indian and split a bottle of cava – cheers!
My last night in London came too soon! I met up with my friend Dom and then Kate and I went out to a fancy and delicious restaurant, Bob Bob Ricard. They have a button you can press and a delightful waiter will bring you Champagne. ALSO THE SOUFFLE. GUYS, THE SOUFFLE…
Back to CANADA! Urgh my trip home was way way way too quick. It was nice to see the icy plains of Canada out the aeroplan window.
My friend Lizzie was in Canada with her boyfriend Ted awaiting my arrival. After a power nap, we went for Mexican food and board games.
I had the day off work so took Lizzie and Ted round and about Toronto.
Like major tourists, we started at the Hockey Hall of Fame then I showed them a few of my favourite sights, including this crazy thin building.
I had to work on Thursday, but on Thursday night Lizzie, Ted, Will and I continued to be major Europeans and had wine (from Ontario) and cheese (from St Lawrence Market) – so I guess we are Euro-nadians!
After working in the morning, we all went on the Steam Whistle Tour.
We then got the “lash bus” to Niagara (LONG story!) and enjoyed the falls lit up by night!
The town of Niagara is pretty crazy too, a bit like a North American Blackpool.
After brunch we all headed to the Toronto Beaches, and the water was a BEAUTIFUL colour!
Lizzie and I left the boys to do the chores and hopped off for lunch at the Amsterdam Brewhouse, which is always a joy. The location is incredible, it is right on the waterfront.
We also may have had a few “yacht in the summer” dreams. COME BACK IN THE SUMMER LIZZIE!
Sadly Lizzie and Ted have left Toronto now, but luckily for them they are travelling the US.
Back to work for me!
